Hi All .
A quick update on the residents association and some events taking place over the next month or so . Following most of members of the current committee standing down an EGM was held on 11th September to seek new members interested in carrying forward the work of the committee. The turn out for the meeting was very encouraging new committee members have been agreed and a good number of residents have indicated their willingness to help out with the organisation of future events. The new committee would like to extend their appreciation to those members of the outgoing group . They have put a lot of work into making the events held in the village successful over the last number of years, it should not be underestimated how much time and effort has been put in to make these happen.
The post holders on the new comittee are
Chair : Michael Colwell Secretary : Malachy Bernard Treasurer : Matthew Murnin
Quiz Night.
This was as always great fun and many thanks to Tom for another tremendous performance as quiz master . 180 pounds was raised towards the defibulator fund and a donation has been made to make up the difference to allow this to be purchased . We now just need to find the best spot to place it.
Tree Planting
The ERA has some funding to plant a number of trees as part of the queens jubilee celebrations. It is proposed that these will be planted on the boundary of the Green. Jo Boyland is providing these through the woodland trust and will give us some advise on best location and times for planting these will be . It would be good to have some residents help out with the planting when the time comes .
Coming Up
We have a number of events coming up over the next few weeks all to be held in the marquee
Ronan is to hold an event on 16th October from 2pm – 5pm (Saturday) providing information on a proposal to develop a district heating system for the Village . A group operating an existing co-op system will be giving a talk on their own experience . Some refreshments will be provided at this event !
In the afternoon 22nd October following on from this there will be Pumpkin Carving Classes from 2.00 PM onwards it was thought we would have the carving class a little earlier than halloween weekend this year so that the lanterns could be used for decorations in the week leading up to the big day (night) !
We are going to have our traditional Halloween trick and treating and Halloween parade hopefully with some entertainments followed by a bonfire in the field with some hot drinks details to follow !
